  8.        1.  _I_n_t_r_o_d_u_c_t_i_o_n

  10.        These release notes describe the IRIX Development Libraries
  11.        1.0 product.  The IRIX Development Libraries is a set of
  12.        three on separate CD's for IRIX 6.2, 6.3 and 6.4
  13.        respectively.  Together with the IRIX Development Foundation
  14.        CD's, the IRIX Development Libraries replace the IRIX
  15.        Development Option product 7.1.1.
  16.  
  17.        Each CD of the IRIX Development Libraries contains a set of
  18.        individually installable products listed below. Each product
  19.        is identical to what was shipped on the IRIX Development
  20.        Option 7.1.1 CD set with the following exceptions:

  22.           +o The dev image contains these release notes instead of
  23.             the release notes for IDO.

  25.           +o The Viewkit image was moved from the MIPSpro C++ 7.1A

  133.        1.2  _S_e_p_a_r_a_t_e__P_a_c_k_a_g_i_n_g__o_f__n_o_n_-_c_o_m_p_i_l_e_r__I_D_O__P_r_o_d_u_c_t_s

  135.        As mentioned above, the IRIX Developer's Option (IDO) CD is
  136.        being replaced by the IRIX Development Libraries and IRIX
  137.        Development Libraries CD set. Whereas, IDO was an optional
  138.        product for purchase, the IRIX Development Libraries CD's
  139.        and IRIX Development Libraries CD's are available free of
  140.        charge and will be distributed with future IRIX releases.
  141.        This will enable developers to use the Free Software
  142.        Foundation's gcc products. MIPSpro compiler products will
  143.        require the IRIX Development Foundation CD and be packaged
  144.        and sold separately.  The MIPSpro Compiler 7.2 products

  173.        Each MIPSpro compiler product comes with its own CD which
  174.        contains the appropriate compiler front-end as well as the
  175.        IRIX Development Foundation and IRIX Development Libraries
  176.        CD sets.

  179.        1.3  _L_i_c_e_n_s_e__M_a_n_a_g_e_r
  180.  
  181.        With this release, the MIPSpro C, C++, Fortran 77, Fortran
  182.        90 and Auto Parallelizer compiler products come with a
  183.        software license enforcement mechanism. The IRIX Development
  184.        Foundation CD set contains version 3.2 of license_eoe which
  185.        is recommended for use in conjunction with the compiler
  186.        products. For more information, please see the IRIX
  187.        Development Foundation Release Notes, and the release notes
  188.        for the individual MIPSpro compiler products.

  191.        1.4  _V_i_e_w_k_i_t___d_e_v

  193.        This release of the IRIX Development Libraries also includes
  194.        the Viewkit_dev package. Previously, Viewkit_dev was
  195.        available with the MIPSpro C++ product. The release of
  196.        Viewkit_dev on the IRIX Development Libraries, is identical
  197.        to its release on the MIPSpro 7.1A C++ CD.

  202.        The _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _A_d_m_i_n_i_s_t_r_a_t_o_r'_s _G_u_i_d_e and the
  203.        installation information in the _P_e_r_s_o_n_a_l _S_y_s_t_e_m
  204.        _A_d_m_i_n_i_s_t_r_a_t_i_o_n _G_u_i_d_e fully and accurately document the
  205.        process for installing optional products such as the IRIX
  206.        Development Libraries.  For installation information about a
  207.        specific product, refer to that product's online release

  211.        1.6  _O_n_l_i_n_e__R_e_l_e_a_s_e__N_o_t_e_s

  213.        After you install the online documentation for a product
  214.        (the _r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s subsystem), you can view the release notes on
  215.        your screen.

  217.        If you have a graphics system, select ``Release Notes'' from
  218.        the Tools submenu of the Toolchest. This displays the
  219.        _g_r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1) graphical browser for the on-line release
  220.        notes.
